What's happysheep all about?

We created happysheep to be an online version of the public notice board that sits outside your local dairy.

We believe in the power of simplicity and have built the best site possible with the least number of features necessary.

We aim to make happysheep the #1 place in New Zealand to list local events, classes, activities, jobs, services, flats and flatmates, stuff for sale and more!

What makes happysheep different?

• we've intentionally stripped the site of every unnecessary feature and focused on speed and simplicity

If happysheep is free to use, how do you guys make money?

happysheep is a low-cost site and we use Google Adwords to cover its running costs.

In addition to happysheep we also run Zillion and do occasional client work to help pay the bills.

Who's behind happysheep?

The team is currently made up of Simon Barton, Shane Langley, Ruth Higgison and Dylan Bland.

In addition to happysheep we also run Zillion. Simon is the owner and founder of Mighty Ape and is the co-founder of Gameplanet. Dylan is the owner and founder of nzflatmates. Between us have won seven NetGuide Awards (we really love the Internet).

Where are you guys based?

We're a small geographically spread team, which we view as a good thing because it allows us to spend less time in meetings and more time building web sites. Shane and Dylan work from our office in central Auckland while Simon works from Albany and Ruth works from Oamaru. Our servers are located in a data centre in Albany.

I'm a bit of a geek, what technology do you use?

happysheep runs on LAMP - Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP.
